Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer, 38, shared her “big break” with her 271,000 Instagram fans this morning. The star shared a clip of herself taking part in dance competition So You Think You Can Dance? 10 years ago, which she credits with catapulting her to success.

At the start of the clip, presenter Cat Deeley introduced the Venezulan dancer to the stage.

She said: “Our last girl to dance solo tonight.

“She’s ready to smoulder, let’s hear it for Karen!”

Donning a black fringed dress, the star energetically danced for 30 seconds to remain in the competition.

The Instagram post saw Karen showing off her moves to song Celia y Tito by Celia Cruz and Tito Puente, while the screen behind her counted down to zero.

After finishing her performance, Karen looked pleased with herself before shimmying over to Cat.

The presenter gushed: “I mean seriously, it’s not even right, it’s not even right how gorgeous you are.

“Let’s hear it for Karen.”

The Strictly star captioned the video: “SYTYCD season 6

“How time flies .. #bigbreak.”

Karen took part in season six of American reality show So You Think You Can Dance? in 2009.

In the show, contestants competed for the title of “America’s favourite dancer” and the $250,000 prize.

Despite not being a finalist, Karen finished in the top 12.

After her SYTYCD stint, Karen was cast in Broadway production Burn The Floor, where she met her future husband Kevin Clifton, 38.

Karen joined BBC favourite Strictly Come Dancing for its 10th season three years later and has remained on it ever since.

Kevin proposed to Karen on stage during a performance of Burn The Floor on the star’s birthday and the couple were later married in 2015.

The marriage was not the first for either star, as Karen had been married to former dance partner Matthew Hauer until 2009 and for Kevin it was his third marriage.

However, three years later the dance duo split and Karen has since revealed that she found it “hard” being around her ex-husband while on Strictly.

Speaking on The Divorce Club podcast, the performer said “under different circumstances” their romance could have lasted.

Kevin has since moved on with partner and Strictly Come Dancing winner Stacey Dooley, while Karen recently ended a relationship with opera singer David Webb.
