Stormzy said he made mistake during Maya Jama relationship weeks before reunion

Just weeks before news broke that Stormzy and Maya Jama have reportedly rekindled their relationship, the rapper had spoken about "mistakes" he had made in their relationship.

Rapper Stormzy, 29, and TV presenter Maya Jama, 28, were spotted together at the GQ Men of the Year 2022 celebration in London on Wednesday evening.

And now a source close to them has revealed to The Sun that the pair have rekindled their romance, telling the outlet: "Stormzy and Maya are together again. They’re taking it slow but are very much back in each other’s lives after a long time when they didn’t speak or see each other."

The reunion comes just weeks about Stormzy opened up about their breakup to documentarian Louis Theroux, revealing that it left him "devasted" and that he doesn’t "want to feel like that again."

He said: “My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man.

“It was like, OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you.

“That’s probably the biggest loss a man can have, isn’t it? Away from someone passing away, that’s the biggest loss you can have.

"The whole f***ing palaver that surrounded that situation, do you know what I mean? There were other things in terms of mistakes I’d made.

"I didn’t do what a man should do to fully appreciate love, and care for his woman."

Continuing, he added: "Long story short, I learned that if I don’t want to feel like that again, and if I believe that God will bless me again with an amazing woman and a family and marriage and all of that kind of thing, I have to do all the necessary work to never be in that situation again."

The rapper spoke to Louis as part of a new BBC series, which saw the presenter also speak to stars Rita Ora and Dame Judi Dench.

It comes as Maya was recently been announced as the new host of Love Island, following the departure of previous presenter Laura Whitmore.

She will make her debut as host as the new ninth series returns in early 2023.

Speaking about her upcoming presenting gig, Maya said in a statement: "I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows! I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all of the Islanders."
