Timothée Chalamet’s fans went wild after it was claimed his new film where he plays a ‘sexy bisexual cannibal’ received a 8.5 minute ovation at its premiere on Friday.

The picture got an overwhelming response at its debut at the Venice Film Festival, where Timothée’s character Lee is thought to have seduced a man in a sensual carnival scene before falling in love with female role Maren.

According to Variety, the movie was ‘devoured’ by the audience, who gave their ‘longest and most enthusiastic’ applause of the festival so far.

Italian director Luca Guadagnino is said to have wiped his eyes as the Sala Grande’s audience chanted, “Luca! Luca!”

Timothée and Taylor Russell, who portrays anti-heroine Maren, were among the cast members that down the theatre’s mezzanine steps to greet the enthusiastic audience in the orchestra, according to reports. 

The Call Me By Your name star then prompted additional cheers by holding up pieces of paper with Luca and Taylor’s names that were intended to reserve their seats.

Following the screening, fans wrote on Twitter: ‘I need to see the Timothée Chalamet cannibal movie so bad I’m foaming at the mouth.’

Another wrote: ‘god i love italy with all my heart. movie stars (the incredible) chalamet as a sexy cannibal’

Sharing Variety’s article, a third chimed in with: ‘Chalamet’s star shines as a sexy bisexual cannibal, catapulting the clandestine thespian thusly.’

Bones And All features Timothée as disenfranchised drifter Lee, who falls in love with cannibal Maren and they become a ravenous couple on the run.

The movie reunited Timothée with his Call Me By Your Name director Luca and production was well underway in Kentucky and Ohio after Armie Hammer’s cannibal scandal broke in January 2021.

In the teaser, Lee asks Maren: ‘You don’t think I’m a bad person?’ Maren replies: ‘All I think is that I love you.’

The coming-of-age horror flick is set in the eighties as Lee’s Chevy truck with Indiana plates has bumper stickers for Reagan/Bush 1984 and one that reads: ‘My wife, yes. My dog, maybe. My gun, never.’

The mysterious trailer – filled with the sounds of women screaming – only shows one glimpse of Maren with blood on her face while squatting inside a bathroom.

There are also flashes of the couple running in a hospital, a scared shirtless man in overalls running, and Lee looking startled while behind the wheel.

‘They meet and join together for a thousand-mile odyssey which takes them through the back roads, hidden passages, and trap doors of Ronald Reagan’s America,’ the synopsis read.

‘But despite their best efforts, all roads lead back to their terrifying pasts and to a final stand which will determine whether their love can survive their otherness.’

Bones and All – hitting US theaters November 23 – is based on Camille DeAngelis’ 2015 novel and it features Mark Rylance, Chloë Sevigny, David Gordon Green, and Francesca Scorsese.
