Who Did Margaret Qualley Date Before Shia LaBeouf?

Margaret Qualley is an actor best known for her roles in films like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and her Emmy-nominated turn in the FX miniseries Fosse/Verdon. But she’s also made headlines for her high-profile relationships. Here’s a look at some of those she dated before actor Shia LaBeouf.

Margaret Qualley is the daughter of Andie MacDowell

Qualley was born into the entertainment industry. Her mother, Andie MacDowell, is an actor known for starring in films such as Groundhog Day and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Qualley’s father is MacDowell’s first husband, Paul Qualley. She has two siblings, including older sister Rainey (the musician Rainsford).

Despite her show business roots, Qualley grew up outside of Hollywood. She was born in Montana and raised in North Carolina. Qualley trained as a ballerina from a young age. She quit dancing at 16 and began modeling. Qualley also briefly studied acting at New York University.

She dated Nat Wolff early in her career

Qualley’s first known relationship was with actor Nat Wolff. Wolff began acting as a child, starring in the Nickelodeon series The Naked Brothers Band. He continued to appear in films, including 2013’s Palo Alto, during which time he and Qualley were dating. She got her first on-screen role while visiting him on the set.

Wolff and Qualley were dating attended the premiere of his film, the 2014’s teen drama The Fault in Our Stars, based on the popular book of the same name. Sometime after this, they broke up but later co-starred in the 2017 manga adaptation Death Note, playing love interests.

Qualley was later linked to Pete Davidson

In mid-2019, Qualley was linked to another actor, Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson. At the time, there was a lot of focus on the comedian’s dating life, as he and singer Ariana Grande had broken off their engagement less than a year earlier — before he was briefly linked to Kate Beckinsale.

Qualley and Davidson were reported to be dating after they were spotted together at the Venice Film Festival, where her film Seberg premiered. Neither actor commented on their status, but MacDowell told People it was “a beautiful relationship.” Davidson and Qualley broke up after about two months in October 2019.

Shia LaBeouf and Margaret Qualley’s relationship

The past year has been a strange one for celebrity relationships, as many were conducted largely out of the public eye amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Qualley kept busy, though, starring in Rainsford’s music video for her song “Love Me Like You Hate Me” alongside LaBeouf.

About two months after their short-film debut (which features a “special thanks” to Olivia Wilde, who fired LaBeouf from her movie Don’t Worry Darling), LaBeouf and Qualley were photographed together in Los Angeles. This came right after LaBeouf’s ex, FKA Twigs, sued him for sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress.
