We have had fertility tests and everything came back normal.

Now we are heading for IVF. I find it depressing because so many family and friends are expecting.

People ask why we don’t have children yet and we make up stupid excuses, like that we are enjoying life.

But I’m feeling so low.

DEIDRE SAYS: Trying to start a family can be fraught.

Some-times doctors do not accompany tests with guidance on how to give yourselves the best chance.

My e-leaflet Want To Have A Baby? suggests self-help.

Before IVF – which is pricey and not the only answer – check out some impartial advice from Professor Lord Robert Winston at genesisresearchtrust.com/askrobert.

If people ask, say “We’d love to have a family but it’s not always easy.”

There is no shame.
