BBCs Dan Walker slammed by Strictly fans for sharing results too early

Broadcaster Dan Walker has been accused of "spoiling" Sunday's Strictly Come Dancing results show after he appeared to reveal who was going home before it was announced.

Some upset viewers slammed the presenter for letting the cat of the bag prematurely as he already said his goodbyes to Ugo Monye and his professional dance partner Oti Mabuse online.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Dan posted a pic of Ugo and Oti and penned: "Gutted that @ugomonye is the latest to leave the ballroom.

"Take care of that back big man. See you soon.

"I know @rocketrhys will come back stronger too #Strictly"

However, the presenter's farewells seemed to infuriate some spectators as they felt he had ruined the results.

Commenting on Dan's revelation on Instagram, one viewer penned: "So sad when everything needs to be on social media….let people watch in their own time…..silence is golden."

Another wrote: "I'm gutted but found out earlier in comments on here which shouldn't be allowed.

A third added: "Be helpful if you put a spoiler alert first!!! FFs!!"

However some fans jumped to the host's defence, with one fan commenting: "All these comments about Dan letting the cat out of the bag. Simple answer is, don't look at Social Media until you've watched.

"Onus is on you not to look, not on everyone else to not say anything. It's not all about you."

Another agreed and said: "If you don't watch the Sunday edition when it's televised WHY are you looking through social media as you are bound to know all the strictly celebrities/ dancers post how they got on."

Meanwhile a third commented: "I don't wish to be rude, but the simple answer is, don't look at Dan's posts until you've watched. It's not sad at all. People obviously want to comment and this is Dan's account so don't read it if you don't want spoilers."

Due to the fact Strictly results programme is filmed right after Saturday's show, show producers try their best to keep everything under wraps.

Last weekend, Dan and his professional dance partner Nadiya Bychkova were the first on the floor and danced a Viennese waltz to She's Always A Woman by Billy Joel.

The BBC Breakfast host dedicated the dance to his wife Sarah.
