Jay’s Yorkshire Workshop will be airing weekly on BBC Two and the series stars The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades. In the documentary series, Jay and a whole host of experts create furniture for members of the community who have carried out selfless acts. Where is Jay’s Yorkshire Workshop?
Jay Blades is known for leaving fans in tears on his emotional series, The Repair Shop, on the BBC.
The series follows a bunch of talented restorers as they make precious family heirlooms as good as new.
Jay is now taking on a new venture in his six-episode series, Jay’s Yorkshire Workshop, which is expected to be just as emotional.
The series will see Jay and his team speak to members of the public who have been hailed local heroes.
In the first episode, he speaks to a man who donated half of his liver to a complete stranger.
Viewers will also witness how care home staff from Doncaster moved into the care home to keep residents safe during the coronavirus pandemic.
The experts will create a stunning sideboard, a 13-foot-wide arbour and a bespoke sewing box in the first episode.
Jay’s workshop is located in Bradford, with filming taking place at a site in Bradford city centre.
Bradford is in West Yorkshire and it is known for its industrial history and National Science and Media Museum.
Like in The Repair Shop, experts will work hard to create bespoke items for members of the public.
The three experts are Saf Fakir, Isabelle Moore and Ciaran O Braonain.
Saf is an expert in woodwork and is the managing director of the company Fakir Woodworks.
On LinkedIn, he shared the news of the new series, with the message: “I’m so proud and humbled to have had the opportunity to work with an absolutely wonderful team on and off camera.
“The amount of work and effort that went into this cannot be justified in hour-long episodes.
“My fellow experts and apprentices can attest that working on this programme for a solid six weeks was an absolute pleasure.
“And has really opened my eyes of what can be achieved in such a small amount of time.
“It was an absolute pleasure @jaybladesmbe for giving me and my team the opportunity to make something beautiful for such amazing deserving people and I can’t wait to do it all over again.” [Sic]
Isabelle Moore is a designer based in Edinburgh and she is known for her contemporary designs and freestanding furniture.
Her website says: “Developed through drawing, models and fabrication, each piece is shaped by a love of hand skills, materials and a fascination with the possibilities revealed by cross media manipulation and geometry.”
Ciaran O Braonain is a talented woodworker who runs courses and makes handcrafted gun boxes.
The company, Cheshire Woodworking, was set up in 2012 by the Dublin-born woodwork teacher.
His workshop is based in rural Cheshire and his website says: “Seeking out the finest raw materials, including high-grade woods, feathers and leathers, he works closely with clients to understand their ideas and uses his expertise to create unique pieces tailor-made to their requirements.”
Fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on Jay’s latest venture.
One said: “You are such an inspiration Jay, really looking forward to the program.”
Jay’s Yorkshire Workshop airs on BBC Two on Wednesdays.
